Success Series Education

We set out to have a conversation about success. And without prompting, that chat quickly turned to education.

When Strayer University announced the Success Project in partnership with Steve Harvey this past August, it was with the intention of challenging people to redefine what success means to them. In the Success Series, our four-part video series collaboration with SoulPancake, we took to the streets to hear these re-imagined visions of success directly from everyday people.

While we tried not to begin the conversation with any expectations (the idea of the project, after all, is to think about success in terms other than wealth, fame, or material attainment), we were pleasantly surprised by how personal and touching peoples’ definitions of success are. And we were elated to learn that one of the most common indicators of success—an almost universal symbol of achievement—is education.

As we spoke to people, we quickly found that no matter what their own goals or personal successes were, education was at the center of their journey. Whether they already achieved their goals through education, or recognized the value of a degree and were looking to return to school, education played a pivotal role in defining success.

Strayer University has always emphasized the transformative power of education. A degree can empower you to strive for excellence and open up an entire world of opportunities. We remain as committed to our mission as ever, a dedication that is affirmed by seeing how much education factors into other peoples’ visions for their lives.

Check out the video to see for yourself the value people place on education, and ask yourself how a degree can help you define your own success. See firsthand how people from different backgrounds and walks of life all define education as both a goal and a means to achieving goals.
