Strayer Success Coach

So what exactly is a Strayer Success Coach? They’re like your own personal assistant – someone who is always there for you to help you succeed in school and continue on to your ultimate goal: graduation. While a Success Coach can’t always directly resolve your issues, they can collaborate with faculty and other departments to help you overcome obstacles. They can guide you to academic and financial assistance, provide emotional support, and perhaps most instrumental, instill growth mindset principles that will help you in and outside of the classroom. With that said, here are three bits of knowledge to help you be successful at school:

How Do I Balance School with My Other Priorities?

This is perhaps the most common issue adult learners face, and a big reason why some are reluctant to pursue adult education. It can be a struggle to set aside time each day to focus on schoolwork.

Quite likely, the first thing a success coach will talk to you about is time management and focus. They’ll often ask what motivates you. Just by speaking it aloud to someone else, you will begin to internalize the reasons – and this can reenergize you. Then, working together, your Success Coach will help you plan a schedule that takes into account all of your responsibilities and available time.

Another mindset principle is to have you focus on what overcoming this obstacle will do for you—to visualize the potential rewards and benefits to your life. If you have kids, the perseverance you display will mean a lot to them, and teach them good habits and mindsets of how hard you have to work to achieve your goals.

Don’t be Afraid to Ask for Help

Beyond your Success Coach, Strayer University has a host of other tools and resources to help you achieve your degree, like the Learning Resources Center and both online and on-campus tutors. Use the iCampus portal for all your coursework and to collaborate with peers. Professors are easily engaged for questions and assistance. The bottom line is, if you ask for help, you will receive it.

Let Your Success Coach Be Your Cheerleader

Every once in a while, you’re going to need an emotional pick-me-up. Your Success Coach is always there. There are lots of non-traditional students just like you who are returning to school to finish something they started previously, embarking on a career change or pursuing a personal accomplishment. You can do it too!

Just remember: apply yourself, never hesitate to ask for help, practice good time management skills and be engaged. And don’t forget to lean on your Success Coach in any time of need. They’re the rock that can help you succeed!
