Congratulations Erick Hasse on being Strayer’s student of the month!
As a Cryptologic Technician with Networks (CTN) in the U.S. Navy, Petty Officer Erick Hasse knows all about high standards and daunting challenges. But that didn’t stop this Strayer valedictorian from getting his B.S. degree in Information Technology.
“I believe that education creates opportunities, so I dedicated myself to setting and achieving demanding educational, personal, and professional standards,” he says of his decision to finally go out there and get the degree he’d always wanted.
And while it wasn’t easy, Petty Officer Hasse had the grit and determination to succeed. Not only that – he excelled in both his studies and his military career.
While studying at Strayer, Petty Officer Hasse served as president of several enlisted associations and as the cybersecurity workforce coordinator for his command. His honors include certifications from the Department of Homeland Security and from the E.C. Council as a Certified Ethical Hacker. The Navy recognized Petty Officer Hasse as a subject-matter expert within its cyber-community, and he was hand-selected to work with cybersecurity professionals at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Petty Officer Hasse’s next big adventure will take him and his wife, Rebecca, to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. There, he’ll put his Strayer education to work defending the United States from the proliferating number of individual and nation-state-sponsored cyber-attacks that put the nation’s security at risk. He also plans to pursue a graduate MBA program.
Whatever future success waits for him, Petty Officer Hasse is filled with a pride and strength he credits Strayer for teaching him.
“I’m proud that I now stand as a greater example to my family and loved ones,” he says. “I’m a stronger team member and leader, I have greater skills in cyber security and technology management, and I’m positioned to become a naval officer. I’m meeting all of my goals!”
