When Ms. Burger began working for Daimler Trucks North America LLC, a Daimler company, the first challenge was cultural—Charlotte, NC is a long way from her home town in Lower Saxony, Germany. While she anticipated this hurdle, she didn’t anticipate feeling stuck in her career. Despite her ambition, she wasn’t having much success moving up within the company.
“Although it was not an easy journey,” Ms. Burger recalls, “Strayer University made it possible for me to fulfill my goal. Now, I am prepared to move ahead in my career.”
Having obtained an associate degree in communications from the Akademie für Kommunikation in Kassel, Germany, Ms. Burger chose to pursue a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) at Strayer University. “It was difficult at first for me to adapt to studying in America since I was accustomed to the German culture and language,” she explains, “but anything is possible through hard work and dedication.”
Ms. Burger proved her point by earning the title of Valedictorian of her graduating class at Strayer. At Daimler, she was recently promoted to Market Planning Project Analyst, where she is responsible for providing industry analysis for the company’s business units and executive management teams in both the U.S. and Germany.
In addition to her new career title, Ms. Burger serves as a mentor for the international trainees and interns at her company, introducing them to American culture and helping them find housing, open bank accounts, and learn other necessary skills for living in the U.S.
Ms. Burger is currently pursuing a certificate in Principles of Marketing Research from The University of Georgia. She continues to set both new professional and personal goals and has the confidence to achieve them, thanks in part to the education she has received at Strayer University.
